The Issue of Fear

Not sure if you have dealt with fear? I certainly have. Fear is an issue that likes to rear its ugly head, instead of dealing with it I manifest it in the form of an upset tummy. I allow it to keep me from doing things that I know I should. It is an emotion that tries to manipulate me. Last week, fear tried to grip me from going on a much needed get away to celebrate a friends birthday. I chose not to let it manipulate me even though I knew it was manifesting itself in my stomach.......the results of fear, that is.
God is so sweet, loving, and amazing. I love how He chooses to teach us, when we quiet ourselves before Him. I had a book that was given to me a couple years ago. I had read half of it. I needed reading material for my flight. So I grabbed In the Arena by Isobel Kuhn and another book. On my flight before I touched down in Charleston, I read something about fear that I have never been taught before. In Isobel's own autobiography, In the Arena, she writes, "The only fear we should have is the fear of having undisclosed sin before God. Otherwise all other fears come from the evil one." God did not give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, love, and self discipline, I Timothy 1:7. This was a revelation to me and it really has helped me, especially in disciplining myself not to fear anyone, anything except the Fear of God. Wow!
God has also revealed this truth to me through song, a song that I could replay over and over in my car......the words are:
You will lift up your face without shame
You will firmly stand with no fear inside
You will surely forget your troubles and pain
Recalling them only as waters go by
And allow no evil to dwell
If you devote your heart
And stretch out your hands to Him
And you will safely take your rest
You will lie down With no one to make you afraid
Darkness gives way to morning's light
Life will be brighter than noon day
As the waters go by into the night
I will firmly stand with no fear inside
I will surely forget my troubles and pain
Recalling them only as waters gone by
I love the words and the promise......."I will lift up my face without shame, I will firmly stand with no fear inside, I will surely forget my troubles and pain, recalling them only as waters gone by." Amazing!
