Trunk or Treat!

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Sunday, October 31, 2010 at 4:43 PM

Here is my trunk or treat crew.

We really enjoy this particular trunk or treat, really our favorite.  We have gone here since Hezekiah was a itty bitty one!

The games are sweet and remind me of the lawn fates that were at my elementary school as a kid.

Especially the cake walk.

Oh CAKE WALK, how I love thee!!!

I got to play again this year, but was out quickly.

Eli cried when he was out, but Hezekiah told Eli, "Eli, if I win then our whole family wins," trying to cheer him up.

Guess what?  Hezekiah won.  Oh boy, was that kid excited.  You would have thought he played the lottery or something.

I have such fond memories of the cake walks when I was a kid.

So thanks to Central Baptist who puts this on every year.  We appreciate it!  It is super family friendly and not at all overwhelming.

Say Uncle!

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 6:30 PM

Guess who we got to see today?

"Uncle Woger..." as Eli and Maggie say.  It was pretty awesome!

Oh, how nice it would be to live closer to family.

We got to spend the afternoon with him at "his" pool and "his" slide....as Hezekiah said.

He was at the Marriott in Orlando so we went swimming in"his" pool and went sliding down "his" slide.

Uncle Roger came bearing gifts too.....little cute eagles and bouncy balls.

We had a wonderful day...and I get to see him and the rest of my family in less than 2 months.

A Whole Lot of Love

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 11:34 AM

When I look at these little faces all I feel a lot of the time is the love.

The love that has made them.

The love that has created them.

The love and joy that their looks say to each other.

Their huggies and kissies.

The truth of the matter is I LOVE what God has blessed me with.

I love to watch the sweet kisses and caresses that they give each other.

I love to hear them talk to each other.

I love when Eli grabs his sisters little cheeks and kisses her and says, "My little rubby cheeks."

I love how she smiles and hugs him back.

I love them.

And I know that they love each other even when they toss each other to the ground.

Despite those rough and tumble times, I still see love.

An Invitation to Play

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On at 11:09 AM

Last week was super busy.....you remember the painting of the house.

I am sorry I did not have many posts last week....so I am catching up a bit today.

Last week Hezekiah made an invitation to a friend to come over to play.  I love how he sticks out his tongue when he colors, draws, and thinks.  Just one of the little things I love about being able to teach him is watching his little face and studying how he accomplishes tasks.

He and Maggie also learned a lot about laundry last week.  They both learned how to empty the dryer, get the clothes out of the washing machine and put them in the dryer, and how to fill up the washing machine and add detergent.  This was all while I was preparing a marinade for pork chops and a mustard sauce.  I was just extremely impressed by their laundry skills.  Which I will be putting to use!!!!

Another fun activity which really seems almost like a blur to me was seeing how Legos are made.  In our See How It's Made book we learned about the production of these fun little blocks that I step on ALL the time...ouch!  The boys also watched on-line the making of Legos and the assignment was to build something with your Legos and take a picture and put it in your science log.  So we did!

We also had a lesson this week at Church at Home on building each other up.  One of our "family" songs is Be Kind to One Another and Build Each Other UP.  Well, let me just say, I get to sing this song a lot!  I can just imagine when they are teenagers and I am still singing this song to them.

Anyhow, the verses being from Romans 14:19, Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification (original - build one another up).  And from I Thessolonians 5:11, Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just in fact that you are doing.

God gave me the idea to use two types of blocks, the smooth blocks to show that when we build things without God's love we are like the smooth blocks that easily tumble when knocked over by trials.  Were not effective and our words and actions are shallow.  However, with the Legos, when we build and are connected to God's leading then we are more effective in our building, because we are stronger.  We are connected through God's strings of love and it is going to be more efficient because when trials come we have others there to under gird us and help us along.

Believe me those trials come and often for me in the form of parenting.

Boo at the Zoo

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 3:41 PM

It has been a busy week.  We painted our house, not really by choice.....we had to have stucco repaired and torn down.  Page and I painted during nap time and evenings this week and then we had some wonderful self-sacrificing friends come help yesterday.  Thank you so much for sharing some of your time to help out our family.  You are some really sweet and kind people to give up part of your day to help us.

So finally today, after some finishing touches our house is fully painted and we are really enjoying the new look!  I will have to post some pictures like a before and after.

But last night since we had been super busy we decided to try and have some time together not with paint brushes or rollers.  So we thought why not go to Boo at the Zoo.  Right?

It was a great break in the everyday-ness of this tiring week.  We had a great time as a family and our favorite were the smokey bubbles.

The smokey bubbles release smoke when you break them.  I am guessing it is some type of dry ice bubble maker.  Not sure.  Do you know?  Anyhow, they were a lot of fun.  Now I am tired....and I think I need to rest.

Pumpkin Patch

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Friday, October 15, 2010 at 6:06 PM

Today we took our annual family visit to our favorite pumpkin patch in town.

It's Maggie Beth's favorite pick too.  Crack me up.  The kid kept picking her nose!

We got to go on a nice hayride too.  The weather was so beautiful this evening.  Just perfect!

Candy Corn Cookies

Maggie Beth and Eli helped me make some candy corn sugar cookies this evening.  My resident photographer took these cool pictures, they taste as good as they look and the kids loved them!
