Spider Cupcakes

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Friday, October 30, 2009 at 9:57 AM

Last night we made spider cupcakes. We have been talking about making them all week and also watching The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. So after we got home from the gym while Page was cooking his famous cheeseburgers on the grill. I got the batter ready for the cupcakes and placed in the oven so after dinner we could create our spider cupcakes. The boys love to put everything on themselves, icing, sprinkles, the pipe cleaners. I think they enjoy it so much because they sneak licks of icing and little finger fulls of sprinkles. They make me laugh. Maggie ate a cupcake while the boys and I made their cupcakes. She seemed to really enjoy herself. I was so busy with the boys that after awhile I looked over at her and I was like, "Oh, my goodness Maggie Beth, you certainly are enjoying that cupcake." She really made a mess. The cupcakes were a hit and I thought they turned out really cute. I saw these in a magazine when I was in a waiting room recently. I wish I could remember the name of the magazine, it had a ton of cute ideas.

Guk Guk

Maggie Beth's vocabulary is cracking us up these days, she loves guk guks. Do you know what guk guks are? Hmm. Perhaps from this picture you will be able to tell what a guk guk is, a guk guk is a cookie! Who introduced her to these? Her daddy! Yes, her sweet precious do not let him out of my sight daddy! She says "Peez!" Rubs her tummy and says, "Peeeeeeeeeeeez!" When she really really wants something. I am sure this word you know peez equals please. I am thankful that this is one of her first words! Maybe just maybe in our household we are teaching some manners. :) Mostly Maggie babbles, but other words she loves are ba = pacifier, Mi Mi or Maaa Mee = Mommy, baf = bath, bye bye my daddy, baby and bubby. These so far are some of her favorites! She has been also showing us her pouty lip. She too gets this from her daddy! But I do love it so and I love to give that little lip some kisses! Oh what love!!! Oh what love!

The Making of Pumpkin Cheesecake Muffins & the Reveal

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On at 5:10 PM

This evening after dinner the boys helped me make the most delicious pumpkin cheesecake muffins! Oh, man they are so good! There were lots of steps and ingredients, I admit I messed up the recipe a couple times but somehow they turned out terrific despite our attempts to follow the recipe! The boys, as always, are wonderful bakers. They have to sample everything in terms of taste, enjoy touching and feeling everything, and had a lot of fun with the lemons. We had to grate some lemon zest in with the cream cheese, this was a whole new experience for them. They also enjoyed poking the lemons with some skewers and tasting the lemon juice. The boys get to enjoy their pumpkin cheesecake muffins in the morning. Since they decided they wanted dessert after dinner this evening. The muffins are for their teachers/staff at school tomorrow, so we are hoping they enjoy them as much as we do. I highly recommend these delicious muffins. The recipe is on the Pillsbury pumpkin quick bread box. Hope you get a chance to enjoy them!

Costumes

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On at 10:08 AM

Trunk or Treat was at our church this weekend. So the kids were totally excited, especially since they get to dress up and receive copious amounts of sugar delights! That is to say the least. We also had a Trick or Treat party, which was really cute and I think the first we have ever been to. Hezekiah had fun with the scavenger hunt. Eli dressed up this year, he is Spiderman. Last year if you remember he did not want to be anything. So we made him a t-shirt that said, "I'm Eli, I don't want to be anysing." (anything!) So, I was impressed he wanted to actually dress up this year. Maggie just wore a cute outfit that grandma sent her that said, "Why wear a costume when you are already a Princess!" Crack me up! And like mentioned in my previous post, Hezekiah was an astronaut. Happy Halloween!

Neil Armstrong

Hezekiah is going to be Neil Armstrong this Thursday for a time-line project at school. He got his outfit this past weekend and instead of being Batman like he had said he would since last year, he decided to be an astronaut. He slept with his costume. He and I are going to make a moon so he can stand on it and say, "One small step for man, and one giant step for mankind." He is excited.

The Tooth!

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 4:56 PM

You never know what really you will wake up to, is what I am discovering as a parent. It really amazes me the craziness I have encountered in the past 2 weeks with illnesses and kids not feeling well. But this morning takes the cake! I wake up, the boys are already busy playing in their room and I walk in and see Eli's poor top lip just swelled up like he was allergic to something. I am like, "Poor buddy!" So, he is on his first antibiotic ever in his life and I am like alright is it the antibiotic or what is going on here. So I take him in the kitchen to get a better look and lift up his little (not so little) lip and look under it to find a swollen gum on his tooth that he had chipped as a baby. So, I called Page and said, "Do you remember Eli hurting his mouth last night." Neither of us could come up with anything. So, I get everyone ready for school miraculously! Get in the car, throw the phone book in the car with me to find the dentists number that we use and hit the road. On the way I call and they got us in immediately! I dropped Hezekiah off at school, and then the rest of us headed to the dentist. We got there, they did an x-ray (and granted we were just there for their cleanings 3 weeks ago). Poor kids tooth had an abcess, from hitting it again on something and it was all infected. Mind you he was already on an antibiotic for an ear/sinus infection that he had last week and shared with me so I had to get antibiotics yesterday after 4 days of suffering! So who knows how much pain the kid would have been in if he had not been on the antibiotic. So the dentist tells me, "It needs to be pulled, TODAY!" They sent us next door and thankfully they scheduled it for later at 12:15 p.m. so I could let Eli go to school for a couple hours to ground myself a bit. So, I gathered my thoughts and asked Page if he wanted to take him or if he wanted me to take him. I guess since he had to do stitches with Hezekiah, I got the tooth pulling. Woo Wee! Well, thanks to anyone and everyone who prayed for us because it was quick and easy. I just had to bear hug him keeping his hands down, and my leg over his legs. What a sight to see huh? Poor baby, I felt so bad for him. The good news is I bribed him with LEGOS and of course the tooth fairy! So guess who is visiting our house tonight? Oh, what a day! Not sure if this is in the books for one I really want to remember. But I am thankful for God's provision and my little one is not in any pain!

Pumpkin Carving

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 5:44 PM

We had a great time carving our pumpkin. We used a devotion that was given at MOPS this week to go along with our pumpkin carving. The boys comments were cute. Cleaning out our pumpkin was a bit smelly. Good way to point out how God cleans out all the stinky stuff in our lives when we ask Him to. They were so funny holding their noses. I was so glad I was able to capture it on the camera! I was cracking up. I thought Page was going to lose it a couple of times. It smelled a bit. I guess we got a bit of a rotten one. But our carved pumpkin turned out really adorable. We had such a great family day visiting the pumpkin patches, taking pictures, choosing a pumpkin, taking a hayride, and carving our pumpkin. Enjoy!

Purchasing the Perfect Pumpkin

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On at 5:34 PM

We went to another pumpkin patch this evening to purchase the perfect pumpkin to carve. This pumpkin patch is on Wickham Road, across from Meadowlane! I highly recommend it. Why? Because they had the cutest hayride! What a nice surprise!

MOPS Scavenger Hunt

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On at 10:23 AM

Last night was the MOPS Scavenger Hunt. I had a good time even though my team did not win! We had some fun things to do thanks to Cindy! (Thank you Cindy for making up clues for us! Even though you could not come!) We had to try twice to get $1.01 for Amanda's gas for her car at 7-11. We had to get our picture taken with pumpkins, get a straw from McDonald's and get our picture taken with Ronald. We had to go to Krispy Kreme and get a picture of the Hot and Ready sign, and count the chairs. We were able to get 19 points, but the other team won! After our hunt we went to Chili's for dinner. I think this is the 4th Scavenger hunt I have gone on with MOPS and I always have a good time! If you missed out, come next time!
