Spice up your Thursday

One way to make any ordinary Thursday fun is to take kids to EPCOT, you get the boys Thursday morning rendition of Patrick Warburton on Soarin' at 9 o'clock in the morning.
(Them repeating and acting like him prior to the ride).
They crack me up!
Let your kids design their own cars to see which wins.

The ride is a bit exhilarating at 9:30 a.m.
To spice up science, since the kids have been studying sea turtles, see a Green sea turtle up close.

Then make your daughter happy, by spending time watching the dolphins.  Learn more about the research that they do at the Living Seas by watching the dolphins recognize pictures as the scientists do their behavioral study.

Next, add some cultural diversity to your lessons by taking your children around the world and celebrate "Christmas" in different countries.  We visited Mexico, Germany, the United States, Great Britain, and Canada today.

In Mexico, Maggie played some maracas while the band played Mexican Christmas carols.  We watched some visitors act out the story of Mary and Joseph looking for a place to stay that wonderful eve.

And the kids got to hit a pinata.
Of course they did give them candy!

We learned about Kwanza and Hanukkah.  We did not get to play dreidel this year, but they still got a chocolate coin.

And we also got into the Christmas spirit by listening to the lovely acapella Voices of Liberty Dickens Carolers.
Wow, they are amazing!
In Germany we learned about the first Christmas tree, the advent calendar, and the nutcracker.

We also hung out with Mr. & Mrs. Claus, I think some of my children made known their Christmas wishes, while one in particular still has no desire to talk with Santa.  Writing a letter is just fine with that middle one!
The youngest asked for her two front teeth and the oldest asked for a Xbox 360.
This taken in Great Britain, is just a wonderful photo of my oldest handsome son! He is patiently waiting for his brother and sister to color their platypuses.
In the U.K. we met with Father Christmas.  This went well for Magpie, because the play she is in, Father Christmas comes to visit and she did not know who he was.

Hezekiah volunteered to be Father Christmas' helper, he jingled the bells as we sang.  And Father Christmas gave him a bell as a gift, one to use to wake Page and I on Christmas morning.  Yeah, thanks Father Christmas. That is exactly what I need at zero hours.
Lastly on this Thursday we visited Canada.   Eli is doing a unit study on Canada right now, so we checked out the totem poles and the Niagara Falls.

So there you go for an atypical Thursday, it was fun, educational, different, and enjoyable.  I think we spiced it up a bit!
