The kids have been studying the Renaissance, we use Homeschool in the Woods, this semester there has been a lot of art projects using different mediums.  Their first work was with pastels.

The next project was with plaster creating Frescoes.

They also created masks for a masquerade ball and pouncet boxes.  Pouncet boxes were used by people during the Renaissance to place fragrances in so they would smell well, since bathing was not done often.

 The kids created Springerle cookies.

The next project was Egg Tempera painting.
The kids had to mix egg yolk with pastels to create their paints.

The next project was oil painting, they had to paint cherubs.

Maggie in the meantime had also created her own hat, and other hats that she sewed.  And in her science curriculum she was studying how wind is created so we used our camping heater to create warm air that would rise and then the cooler air came down causing her homemade plate fan to spin.
