Time to Climb

Sorry, I think it is time to decline some associations, thanks to facebook, based upon this definition........hmmm....dilemma? Whenever I see the 'ol friends list I am often skeptical and I think do I really know that person? Am I really a friend to them? I mean I pray for those who send up a prayer request...so I guess that is a good friend? So, I am sorry facebook, perhaps it is time to climb a little higher and only keep those friendships below.....not just associations? Hmmmm.....
How about you, what have you done, have you deleted "friends"? Dilemma.....I do not want to hurt anyone's feelings. Ugh!
In a comparison of personal relationships, friendship is considered to be closer than association.
A value that is found in friendships is often the result of a friend demonstrating the following on a consistent basis:
- The tendency to desire what is best for the other
- Sympathy and empathy
- Honesty, perhaps in situations where it may be difficult for others to speak the truth, especially in terms of pointing out the perceived faults of one's counterpart
- Mutual understanding and compassion
- Trust in one another (able to express feelings - including in relation to the other's actions - without the fear of being judged); able to go to each other for emotional support
- Positive reciprocity - a relationship is based on equal give and take between the two parties.
I know what you mean about Facebooking with acquaintances/associations vs. friends. After a while and/or certain comments, I think most FBrs start to feel this way...who do I really want to share with? Who here are friends who truly care and add to my life and vice versa? I've "hid" those types of associations - it's easy and I don't think the other person knows, so no hard feelings. When you hover on the right of someone's post you see an X, click on it and you get three choices "Hide this post", "Hide all by (person's name)" or "Mark as Spam". Quick and painless. Hope that helps. :D
