De Leon Springs

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 4:43 PM

We went up to De Leon Springs today to eat breakfast at the Old Spanish Sugar Mill.
We arrived at 9:15 a.m., got out of our car and the smell of deliciousness wafted to our noses, bacon, maple syrup.
It was a nice cold morning, the fog rising from the water, and a chill at our cheeks.
Perfect for a warm fire in the Mill and a warm pancake breakfast.
We warmed up at the fire and then stepped outside to wait our turn for breakfast.
They told us it would be an hour wait, (I guess it is that popular), it was only 30 minutes.
While we waited, we played around the springs.

Gorgeous weather.

TNT - Eli's recycled art

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 11:52 AM

I helped the kids clean their rooms this morning and I was washing and ironing curtains.

At some point Eli got all the recycled items that he had been collecting and created the dynamite pack above!

Easter Lollipops - Candy Making

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 3:17 PM

While the hubs was at a meeting........I decided Spring had Sprung.

The kids and I were little candy makers (we are still reading The Candymakers).

Very appropriate.

We had fireworks in the microwave for a few seconds (that's what you get for following the directions)......you may be getting some advice Wilton's!

The boys liked the fireworks, and they all enjoyed the creating of their candy in the molds.

They liked the different colors of chocolate, and actually listened when I told them they would have to layer their colors!

I love listening ears!

All in all they did a marvelous job!

The proof is in the taste!

Basketball

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On at 12:00 PM

In my spare time lately, which there has not been much of, I have been playing basketball.

I have not posted much.

Why?

Because the boys are signed up for ball, and they seem to LOVE it.

Now, this is their first year playing, so they are totally learning all the rules.

It is super cute to watch them, b/c they really are not too sure what they are suppose to be doing when there is a "game."

They do pretty well with practicing their skills, but the games are a wee bit different.

Often Hezekiah's team has the ball but he is still guarding the person he is suppose to guard with no regard that he needs to get open.

Ummmm, it is super cute......especially when he is sticking that little tongue out.

Eli, most likely if he had the opportunity he would go find bugs to watch.   But his concentration and those little dimples when he is concentrating just are sooooo adorable.  It sure is a good thing they are cute!

They are both learning, I practice dribbling and shooting with them when we go to the park.

It is pretty stinkin' cute!

Barrier Island Sanctuary Field Trip

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 11:55 AM

Today the boys went on a field trip to the Barrier Island Sanctuary.

They did a class on sea turtles, learning about reptiles, characteristics of sea turtles, and looking at the skulls of different species of sea turtles to figure out what they might eat.

Then they went outside to play a game to see which baby sea turtles would survive the elements to adulthood.

So the adults were lights on, plastic, tarpon, sharks, etc., and the kids were the sea turtles.

If they got past us they survived.

Next the kids had a scavenger hunt that they completed in their display area, the scavenger hunt was all about sea turtles.

Our group next learned how to fill out a sea turtle sighting sheet.  They measured their turtles carapace, the length and width, they had to determine what species of sea turtle they had, and they had to write down if the turtle had any signs of an injury.

Lastly, they did a beach clean-up.

Eli's sensitive ears

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 10:37 AM

Maggie Beth came home from school yesterday and was singing a song her friend Alice taught her....

"Mrs. Mary Mack, Mack, Mack

All dressed in black, black, black

Her asked her mother, mother, mother,

For fifty cents, cents, cents,

So she could watch the elephant, elephant, elephant,

Jump over the fence, fence, fence....."

So the singing of the song continued........and continued.......and continued......until I knew the song and until Eli was a little over it hearing it..........

So he asked Maggie Beth to stop singing it in the car, she obliged, but sang it in a whisper.

Now granted they sit right next to each other in our Envoy.

Eli says in a overly reactive, in a Napoleon Dynamite type of way, "Maggie, you know my ears are super sensitive and I can still hear you singing that!"

Maggie Beth.........words from a Preschooler

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Monday, March 4, 2013 at 10:57 AM

In the car on the way home from preschool, Maggie Beth says, “Mommy, will you ask Daddy to get a ladder out for me and Alina so we can get on the roof and crawl over the roofs to the school?  And then when we will tip toe to the playground and climb the fence and get in the red tube and sleep there at night and wake up and go to school in the morning. Mommy, can you ask him?  Please?”

This kid has plans, reminds me of Hezekiah’s plans at this age.  He too had plans of meeting a friend, sneaking out of his window and/or going out the front door and riding his bike to meet his buddy half way in the night.  Crack me up 4 year olds plans and imaginations!  So cute.

I asked Maggie Beth some questions the other day.

Here are her answers to my questions:

1)      What is your name?  Maggie

2)      How old are you? 4

3)      What is your favorite thing to do?  Play bakery

4)      Who do you like to play with?  Mommy

5)      What is it that you make in your bakery?  Cakes

6)      When you grow up what do you want to be?  A bakery – a bakery that makes Halloween cakes, a Snorkle under water Scuba diver

7)      What does a Halloween cake look like?  Orange and black with a pumpkin on top…..my necklace – I mean it broke.

8)      What broke?  My icing necklace I was making for my cake.

9)      Do you go to school?  Yes

10)  Do you have friends there?  Alina, Maddy

11)  What’s your favorite thing to do at school?  Play outside.  Singing, “I play, I do what is right, I know, I Jesus is loving me, a ding a ling a ling…….”

12)  You said you wanted to be a Scuba diver too, why?

Because I just want to see what the underwater looks like and see a starfish and an octopus
