Accountability.....do we really desire it?
Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 11:18 AM
It's a question I have been pondering about the human race for a while now.
Do we really want accountability?
I think we must. I mean it is scarey right.......being accountable for your actions?
But overall, I think we do.
For example, I was a bit scared about homeschooling and then having my child tested. I mean, did I do the whole teaching thing justice? It is scarey. I was sweating it. Thankfully he did absolutely wonderful. Honestly, I believe it was God's doing because if you know me......I am far from perfect.....I mess up a lot!
But you know sometimes we would rather not like the accountability......especially when we have knowingly done wrong, disappointed someone, etc. But you know it is good if your heartaches about it........it's good to seek reconciliation.....you know the Holy Spirit is working. Oh, especially if you are a believer. Right? I know when I have either done something wrong accidentally or knowingly I ache about it until I get it right.
But I have been wondering about that.
We say we want accountability, but do we really?
Because, I have seen so many times this thing that trips me up about Christianity....(and it has been tripping me up for a few years now within the circle of believers)....when you are hurt and you point it out to the other believer it is sometimes returned not with humility and the seeking of forgiveness, but instead it's not taken care of, swept under the rug or even returned with insult. So what is that all about? I know it is not comfortable, but we are all fallen....maybe really I should just expect that and then perhaps my expectations of believers would not be so high. But I really think we (and yes, I am including myself....because I am sure I have tripped people up) should set a better example in loving one another.
So, I am turning the other cheek. I am really seeking to love and forgive and not let this whole thing trip me up. And keep myself grounded in His Word.
What about you?
What trips you up and what are you trying to do about it?
Hezekiah's new adventure this week. Trying Karate.
His take on it, "I like it better than anything ever!"
Shadow Box & Sundials

While I was away at Eli's preschool, my precious husband took over the duty of teaching Hezekiah.
I left him with History about Attlia the Hun and Science with shadows.
I returned home to a shadow box, and then got to see a dog eat a cat show.
Hezekiah and Maggie also built a sundial outback, we started at 10 a.m. and placed our shells accordingly, we will try and go back out later on an hour and see if our shadow is casting down on the right time.
Eli's Book Day - Mother's Day

I was blessed to be able to take some time this morning to go to Eli's book day at preschool.
They make pages to their books all year and then display them for Mommies and Daddies to come look at.
I honestly cannot believe he is going to be in Kindergarten and he only has 3 more days of preschool!
His book about me made me cry. It was so adorable and I just gave him a billion kisses. I especially like that I am 56 years old. Too funny!
His book pages were amazing!
I also got a flower from my love bug.
So sweet.
Things like these brighten my day!

I have 6 little hands in my house.
One set of little hands just came out his door and gave me this beautiful flower, I am not even sure if the picture shows all the detail that adorns this flower. I love it!
I adore what these little hands create.
I am in awe of the little minds that design them.
I love how their little hearts communicate that they love me.
Some days you just need that reassurance.
So I post them on my walls.
Not only do I post these on the walls, but I post scripture too.
Because sometimes I just need to be reassured that even in the hard times that God still loves me too!
What are on your walls?
It's not much, just a little backyard pool. All you need to do is add water and that equals fun in this house.
Maggie Beth has been asking all day long lately, "Can we go swimming?" When the answer is "Yes." She squeals at a very high pitch with delight, claps her hands, and jumps up and down. Evenings have been filled with splashing and spraying. When we are finished with school work in the morning, the mornings are filled with suntan lotion scents, feet kicking, and bubble blowing.
I feel that summer has arrived.
Only 5 days of school left for Hezekiah and he will soon be an official 2nd grader. I have been so blessed to watch him grow this school year in his knowledge and love for God. Last year at Easter he asked Jesus into his heart. I asked him if he was interested in getting baptized and he said no, not right now. So it came back up in our discussions with his school work about following Christ. He confirmed to me that he asked Jesus into his heart all on his own doing and asked about being baptized and asked if he could get baptized in the river. I said well, "Of course if you want to." So, I guess we will plan that sometime & maybe invite some friends to see. I am thinking the backyard pool might just be as good! Ha ha ha!
Anyhow, I am thankful for the priceless days that I have with the ability to teach from home and God has truly blessed me through being obedient to His leading. I am blessed to have been given this gift to stay at home and teach. Thank you Lord, may you continue to bless us with this sweet time.
