If we were twins.......

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 5:46 PM

Hezekiah to Eli, "You know if we were twins we would have the same ummm, ummm, (searching for word), ummm, (light bulb)....pants!"

Me to Hezekiah (we have been studying DNA this week....genes & we learned about twins)....."You mean genes?"   (TOO CUTE!) (pants....genes...jeans....get it??)

Hezekiah, "Oh, yeah, genes!"

Eli to Hezekiah, "I wish we had been born at the same time."

Hezekiah to Eli, "Why?"

Eli, "Because we would be the same old." (age)

I love their conversations!

India & Italy

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On at 4:52 PM

Today we had International Day at Homeschool fellowship.

Hezekiah choose a couple weeks ago to do Italy so he could take pizza as a food.

Eli wanted to do a different country and since we had studied India with Mission India he choose to do India and make Chocolate Burfi.  (However, I had to make the chocolate burfi due to time constraints and its' need to cool down, so he helped cut and plate it).

Above are the boys making the pizza.

Here are Maggie Beth and Eli plating the burfi.....my new favorite word according to Page.

I am sorry to say though, and apologize to the home school fellowshippers.......I thought that the burfi was not very tasty.  I left it up to Eli and Maggie's discretion and I really should have tried it, but they liked it, so I figured it must be alright.  I tried it and ummmm, I did not like it.  Sorry, India and chocolate burfi, you sounded fun, but I do not think I will ever make you again!

The boys and I printed pictures off the computer and glued them on their posters, they also did color pages for their project.  I think they enjoyed rubber cementing their pages onto their board.  I did have to help a little in arrangement of pictures, like put your foods all together I would suggest and put your buildings all together.....etc.  They did great.....we worked on it for a couple weekends, so it took us about 3 weeks to complete.

They even presented their little projects to the homeschool group today.  I was surprised, but they were able to tell them a little about their country using their foods, pictures, and color pages.  I am not sure if when I was 5 and 7, I would have gotten up in front of teenagers, older elementary kids, kids in general, and parents and present anything.  I told them I thought they were really brave, but they are also very silly, perhaps they will be a comedy routine later in life.  I think they like the attention.

As you can see, Hezekiah has to be silly in any picture taken of him anymore.  Seriously?

Beach, Bizzarro's, Park with some "old" Friends

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 12:15 PM

Today I learned a couple things about myself.

I learned that after receiving a text from an old college friend, that I really have no idea how to send a text nor really text at all.  I sat in the car for 5 minutes at least trying to write a sentence or two with my 7 year old reading everything I wrote.  Then once I got to the end, I could not even figure out how to send it, so I gave up and just called her, that friend from college....

I also learned that it is always fun to visit a local bakery and I really should do it more often.

Today I visited Sue Ann's in Indialantic to get some cupcakes for the friends we were seeing.  Let me just say I enjoyed my red velvet cupcake with cream cheese icing and Sue Ann's I will visit again.

Okay, so there are the 2 things I learned.

Anyhow, today I got to see two old friends from my Cumberland days.  Kate and her husband Ryan.  Kate and I met playing soccer, she was really good at soccer and let's just say I tried......and Ryan was in some of my Biology classes......I remember we had to count bats out of the gray brick building and collect bugs to see what matched in the guano.

Anyhow, I had the priviledge of watching these two kids fall in love.  Tee hee!  They are a really adorable couple and I am thankful that God made our paths cross at Cumberland so many years ago......like 18 years ago?  That is a bit crazy! So yeah were "old" friends but seriously it does not seem that long ago!

So we got to meet them at the beach today, eat at Bizzarro's, and play at the park.  Above is a picture of our kids together.  They are just adorable.

Thanks Kate and Ryan, it was great to see you guys! :)

3-days Later

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 7:50 PM

Three days later (we started on Thursday) we cut our celery to see if water really defies gravity.......

It did....we had some blue leafs and blue coming out of the top of the celery stalk.

We even saw the little pores filled with blue.

Water is pretty cool.  Got to love hydrogen bonding!

I wish I were this excited about celery!

Climbing through celery, was one of our experiments this week.  We studied about how plants take in water and how water can climb, defy gravity.  Which to any little boy who loves superheroes.......well, is just pretty cool.  Right?

Man, this kid gets excited!  It does not take much........I think he gets it honest though, because seriously I get excited about the littlest of things too.

I love his enthusiasm.  His enthusiasm for life.

I am thankful that I know my purpose as a wife, mommy, and well, as an individual.  I am blessed that part of my purpose is being able to raise up some precious babies.

It is  blessing that these 3 gifts are energetic and exciting!

A Little Girl Time

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Friday, February 4, 2011 at 10:52 AM

One thing I have neglected to do is have girl play dates for Maggie Beth.

Maybe because she is the third child and she already has two brothers to play with....okay I am trying to justify myself.

But I am owning up to my neglect and am trying an extra effort to allow her the time spent with some little girl friends.

And today was the day for her own play date.

Not too say they all really played with one another, but they were all together and there were times of playing together.

It is rare that girls out-number boys in our house, today it occurred.....this day February 4th. Two of the girls had Tu-tu's on and well, it was nice to have a girls day!

With a couple boys in the mix.

The Children Grow

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 6:51 PM

We chose the spot, we dug the hole
We laid the maples in the ground to have and hold
As Autumn falls to Winters sleep
We pray that somehow in the Spring
The roots grow deep

And many years from now
Long after we are gone
These trees will spread their branches out
And bless the dawn

He took a plane to Africa
He gathered up into his arms
An orphan son

So many years from now
Long after we are gone
This tree will spread its branches out
And bless the dawn

So sit down and write that letter
Sign up and join the fight
Sink in to all that matters
Step out into the light
Let go of all that's passing
Lift up the least of these
Lean into something lasting
Planting trees

She rises up as morning breaks
She moves among these rooms alone
Before we wake
And her heart is so full; it overflows
She waters us with love and the children grow

So many years from now
Long after we are gone
These trees will spread their branches out
And bless the dawn
These trees will spread their branches out
And bless someone

(Above is a song by Andrew Peterson called Planting Trees)

I really liked it.  Sometimes the call of being a mommy in the light of each day can seem daunting.  This helps me keep into perspective the reasons why I open the Word, type out the memory verse, pray with my children, and try (try my best) to be different, show love (but it is hard some days).

I was blessed today while reading a book about Bibleless people that Maggie Beth prayed for them.  She said, "God, help the Temacine (Te-Mah-seen) people have the Bible in their language." Uh, yeah?  Crazy huh? Not crazy to God.  She is my prayer warrior!

I just looked at her like what did you just say?  Amazing....He is!  Truly amazing!

God help Page and I plant these trees.
