Decorating Cookies

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On Sunday, January 2, 2011 at 5:34 PM

Like I mentioned in the previous post, Grandma had cookies ready for us to decorate after sledding.

Eli, Maggie Beth, and Hezekiah enjoyed the icing and sprinkles.  They decorated their cookies very well.

Grandma had lots of treats awaiting our arrival.  Just a couple of my favorites are buckeyes and peanut butter fudge.

Sledding

On the 6th, day of Christmas we also went sledding!

(I certainly hope you are singing this tune as I write!)

After piling on the clothes to go outdoors, long underwear, pajamas underneath layers of clothes, at least 2 pairs of socks, mittens, hats, boots, barely being able to move with such layers - we went sledding.  I am certain it took us at least 30 minutes to get dressed, especially trying to find everything that each child needs.

Mittens seem to loose their pair a little too much.

Anyhow, after clothing ourselves, we had a blast each day heading out into the yard to sled.  Eli's face cracked me up.  Page got some wonderful shots of that little guy sledding down the hill.

Maggie Beth mostly walked around with a sled, and would then sit in the snow and try to eat it.  Her little cheeks and Eli's would get so red.

Grandma had hot chocolate waiting a couple times after we played and another time she had cookies waiting to be decorated.

On the 6th, we celebrated the 7th!

On the 6th, day of Christmas.......my true love gave to me the celebration of 7!

Seven years of being a mommy to Hezekiah Page.

Grandma carried out our tradition of a doughnut with sprinkles on your birthday with a candle, for breakfast.

We stuffed a pinata!

Optimus Prime endured loads of beating and even the breaking of a broom.  We could not tear Optimus Prime apart, so we brought him back home to Florida whole with candy inside.

Hezekiah had presents and birthday cake too!  It was nice to celebrate with my brother, his fiancee, and my parents.

Thanks guys!

Skyline Chili!!!!!!

On the 5th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...........5 Golden dogs!

(I know, why am I continuing with this 12 day of Christmas theme?  Silly me!) It is kind of cracking me up at what I come up with though.....

So growing up near Cincinnati, there is one thing that I cannot pass up whenever I return for a visit.

That would be Skyline Chili dogs.

It is great being able to introduce my children to those things that I enjoyed in my youth.  Sledding, snow ball fights, making angels in the snow, chili dogs, Casano's pizza, Milton's doughnuts, my old toys, growing up and experiencing Christmas at Grandma and Papaw's.

Oh the joys!

Magi quest

On the 3rd, 4th, and 5th day.......we celebrated.

Celebrated 14 years of marriage! With our kiddos in tow.

Hezekiah played Magi quest.

He, Maggie, and Eli were deathly afraid of this talking Knight.

After playing the game though, Hezekiah thought it was cool enough to have to go back and get his picture taken with it, at his request.

WATER SLIDES & HOT COCOA

Posted by Unknown | | Posted On at 11:55 AM

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th, day of Christmas centered around water slides and hot cocoa.

Hezekiah took turns with Page and I going down the "big" water slides.  He had a blast.

Maggie Beth and Eli went down the "little" water slides in the "kid" area.

It was so adorable, Eli would hold Maggie Beth's hand and walk her to a slide and then he would walk over to his slide.  Maggie Beth would go down the slides and I would catch her at the bottom.  Eli was so sweet to walk her up the stairs and take her to the slides of her choice.  Maggie Beth loved those water slides.  I was impressed that she went on the "bigger" ones that were in the kid area.

After some hard core water slide action, what is better than going back to your room and cuddling with a nice mug of hot cocoa?  Or Eli and Maggie's version of a mug with a spoon and hot cocoa.

After kids went to bed Page and I took turns going out to ride the slides and visiting the adult only hot tubs.

Great Wolf Lodge

On our third day of Christmas we went to the Great Wolf Lodge!!!

This particular Great Wolf is located in Mason, Ohio.

About 20 minutes from Grandma and Grandpas!

Water slides, the Cub Club (activity center for kids), and the Wolf den in our room (bunk beds) were the highlights of our stay!

The decorations were an experience in themselves.

I just love seeing how different places decorate for Christmas.

It was beautiful and festive!

We really enjoyed our stay here!  I highly recommend it!

We went during the week and it was not too busy.
