Owl Pellets

In Zoology today, my kids dissected owl pellets in our back yard.  They were a bit grossed out by the idea at first.  Regurgitated food?  However, they dug in and found some neat jaws, skulls, rib bones, pelvic bones, and vertebrae.  After getting over the thought of regurgitation the whole owl pellet dissection was not too bad.  There were actually ohhing and ahhing at their finds.  There was even the question, "Mommy, may we save all these bones?"  Me, "No, we are not saving them and keeping them as treasures.  Just keep them as a memory kids, a memory will be just fine."
