Blueberry Morning

This morning we went blueberry picking in Mims, FL.  Here the kids are donning their buckets.

 Harvesting in the blueberry fields.

These blueberries are amazing.  And so delicious!

The blueberry farm should weigh their guests prior to entering to pick and weigh them upon exiting, because some individuals consumed blueberries on our trip.  They kept accidentally falling into their mouths.

Mouth full of blueberries.

NASA - Robotics Mining Competition

Today we visited Kennedy Space Center on a field trip.  The kids programed the Mind storm robots to do a maze during their class time.  After their class we visited the area where colleges from around the country design robots to pick up moon dirt.
The object of the competition is to design an efficient bot to collect the most dirt.

Above is an example of  robots we saw.

We got to see Florida Tech (my Alma Mater) compete against Florida International University.  Florida Tech won!  We cheered the FL Tech robot on of course!

There were other education stations the kids went to where they got stamps at each area.  The stations were:  mine and build, space dirt 101, robot row, say Cheese!, and failure is not an option.

After doing all their passport stations, we went to Atlantis and experienced a space shuttle launch and got to see the real Atlantis shuttle.  It was really cool!

We even got to talk to a guy who used to work on the Space Shuttles.

The kids also explored a portion of the space station!

Then we visited the Angry Birds area.
The best part of this field trip was that it was free!!!!

ROAR Basketball

Today was the last day of basketball this spring. The kids had a fabulous time.  They enjoyed their team mates and coaches.  They also improved their basketball skills.  At the beginning of the 8 weeks Maggie could not even get the ball near the hoop.  But last week at practice and today in her game she scored! We were so excited for her.  Eli and Hezekiah both are able to score in their practices and games, but are learning both to be more aggressive.  They each really learned a lot and we are thankful for this program.  I highly recommend it, especially if your kids are new to a sport.  The coaches are wonderful!

Page and I, as well as the kids coaches and other parents got to play against the kids today! We had a lot of fun with them.  Those kids are just too cute.  And of course our kids loved stealing the ball from us and seeing us out on the court. So sweet!
