Barrier Island Butterfly Habitats & Plant Identification

Yesterday was a full day of field tripping.
We started out at the Berenstain Bears Live show at the King Center.  Then after lunch we headed to the Barrier Island Sanctuary to learn about butterfly habitats and the kids also did some plant identification.  We went there with Central Homeschool Fellowship.

We found Gulf Frittilary butterflies, Giant Swallowtails, and some Zebra Longwings.  Eli was our groups official clipboard carrier who marked off the butterflies we spotted in each zone.
Maggie had a plant identification sheet, they identified the Gumbo Limbo trees, the red, black, and white mangroves, and lots of flowers.

It was super hot!  Can you tell by Maggie's red cheeks?  So, I would recommend doing this field trip in the cooler temperatures.
