Enzymes - Digestion & Magnetic Pulling Power -- Today's science

Did you know that there is an enzyme in kiwi that breaks down the jello so that it does not congeal?  I didn't.

So for my information, do not use kiwi in jello salads.

This interesting tidbit the boys learned this morning as we talked about digestion.  We learned how food is broken up in the mouth by our teeth and discussed the different types of teeth that are in our mouths.....we looked at our teeth with hand-held mirrors.  They also learned about enzymes in saliva and in the stomach that breakdown the food.

In Eli's curriculum we did the pulling power test of magnets through different materials and made little cork boats to pull around in the water.
