Jeremiah 29:11.....What's Over Your Kitchen Table?

Over my kitchen table I have a verse, Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. I have had this above my kitchen table for about 6 years now.

I love the promises of God.

This morning I read to my children about when Peter disowned Jesus three times before the rooster crowed. One thing that really caught my attention today, was this, (after Peter had denied knowing Jesus a rooster crowed....) "Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said to him earlier that evening:'Before the rooster crows, three times you will pretend that you never knew me.'"

It amazes me the love God has for us. How Jesus knew prior to our own knowledge that we would let Him down, betray Him, crush His Spirit, but yet He absolutely loved us enough despite our blatant back-stabbing and laid down His life for us. Loved us completely. Knowingly aware of what we would do.

Just think, if you knew that someone would be rude to you today, would you love them even more because you knew it was going to happen? Oh, I wish I were more this way...........to be more like God is something far out of my reach, but something He can only do in me and you. Wouldn't it just be amazing that when people did hurt you or were rude, selfish, hateful that when they were I or you could just breathe in and say to ourselves........well, I still love you despite what you have done and I forgive you. Forgive you?

To have that kind of love is omnipotent, not earthly.

Lately, I have been aware of this love even more based upon circumstances. That even though you have to go through some not-so-fun situations that God knows the plans He has for you. That He uses those situations or people to push you into something perhaps you were knitted for.........to get you out of your comfort zone and please Him. He uses sometimes the least expected people to rub you the wrong way, not to harm you, but to send you into something more beautiful. Sometimes my eyes are just fixated on the....you hurt me, that is not very nice.......so I am going to stay here and be frustrated type of attitude. Then comes along Reason and Reason says, "No, these are MY plans for you, I knew you before you were born. I knew this was going to happen and you know what, I have a plan for you. Will you follow Me?"

So who said, reading your Bible with your children to "teach" them does not ever "Teach" you? Oh, I think every morning the Truth is teaching me.

But to the stinky situations &/ or people, be it that I have to witness them or play a role..........I guess it was God's plan for me. So, yet I should give thanks and praise! Because I have seen something and that is His beauty from ashes.
